  • Abstract:  They're white. They're heavy. Heavy-duty even. They have lots of ins and outs. They're in my office and they get lots of attention… and that's without anyone even listening.I have had the AudioEngine A5 powered loudspeakers in my office for just about t...

  • Massive sound for the size, Accurate sound - good bass and detail, Well made, Affordable for what they are, Look good on a desktop, Added heat sink for efficiency
  • More expensive than many are willing to pay, Large for desktop use, Extra AC outlet (as on original A5) removed, Not the clearest audio out there

  • The powered Audioengine 5 speakers deliver phenomenal sound and offer simple, attractive styling. They feature two audio inputs and two integrated charging options (one USB port, one AC plug). Speaker wire connections mean that you can optimize stereo sep
  • The speakers aren't cheap, and many will find them to be too large and bulky compared with PC speakers. There's no remote control, and no way to toggle between inputs
  • You'd be hard-pressed to find a pair of powered stereo speakers at this price point that sound better--and offer more flexibility--than the Audioengine 5s. Read full review See all prices

  • Abstract:  The active A5 has a 0.79-inch, silk-dome tweeter and a 5-inch Kevlar woofer powered by 50-watts RMS of internal amplification per speaker. The amps are in the left speaker, so technically the right speaker is a passive speaker, but whatever.

  • With its generous accessory pack, high functionality, and the audio performance, I think the A5s justify their $350 retail price. You will find enjoyment in re-listening to all of your favorite recordings in high-resolution and on a convincing soundst...
