  • High-quality construction. Compact case supports full-ATX motherboard and up to three large graphics cards. Sound dampening material and large bottom mounted fans keep things cool and quiet.
  • No external drive bays. Room for only two 3.5-inch hard drives. Only slot-loading optical drive supported. Tricky cable routing
  • The SilverStone Fortress FT05 is a solid chassis with an understated look and quiet cooling, but its quirks and limitations may discourage inexperienced system builders....

  • Surviving our enthusiast testing process isn't a chore to be taken lightly. Every case that comes through the HardOCP labs is thoroughly examined, pushed to the limit, and tested in ways that we feel gives you an accurate assessment of the product's abili...

  • As of late Silverstone has been developing seriously high performance computer cases that have ultimately been let down by one or two questionable design decisions. The previous Fortress FT04 model delivered some of the best GPU performance we have seen, t...

  • Overall solid construction of mostly metal, Simple system construction and expansion despite size, Looks great, Included 180mm fans generate plenty of moving air.
  • Despite being made of metal, still feels flimsy, – Fan controllers seem erratic, – Sound dampening foam is useless and interferes with cable management, – Price for features ratio is a little skewed. You basically pay premium for the chassis materials.
  • Why should you buy the FT05 instead of the RV05? Well, if you like having more metal in your case, you want a smaller design with many of the same features, or you want a chassis that isn't very flashy but still elegant, then the FT05 might be worth consi...

  • Clean, understated exterior with an impeccable paint finish, Well thought out interior to maximize what space is available, Charttopping thermal performance, Dead quiet with the fans on low without sacrificing temperatures
  • Cramped interior compared to many standard midtowers, Possible minor quality control problems, High cost might turn off more frugal buyers

  • Compact for a case that supports ATX motherboards and three large graphics cards, Massive bottom-mounted fans and sound-dampening material make for excellent, quiet cooling, Better build quality and feel than the similar Raven RV05
  • No external drive bays, Room for only two 3.5-inch hard drives, Slot-loading slim drive required if you want internal DVD support, Cable routing can be tricky
  • Shoppers looking for an understated chassis with quiet cooling, room for multiple video cards, and lots of metal will find a lot to like in the FT05. Just don't expect it to house lots of hard drives, or a standard optical drive. Read More…...

  • The Fortress FT05 has enough going for it to justify its premium over the Raven RV05 if you're after a similar design with calmer aesthetics, a more spaceefficient layout and fantastic cooling.
  • The FT05 is more awkward to work with than most similarly priced enclosures, offers weaker support for storage drives and power supplies, and costs ~50% more than the comparable RV05.
  • Lately, Silverstone's high-end cases seem to be falling short because of questionable design decisions. Last year's Fortress FT04 delivered some of the best GPU cooling we've seen but its CPU thermals were average due to the placement of its 3.5" drive ca...
