  • Screen size, menu system, battery life
  • Controls, no FM radio, no on-the-fly playlists
  • While the Samsung YP-Z5 will appeal in its design and interface, we would recommend having a play in the shop first before you dive right in

  • Overall, the YP-Z5 succeeds because it produces very good quality sound output, has a lovely screen, and you can drag and drop music and picture files from your PC. Its long battery life is the icing on what is already a very nice looking cake indeed. But...

  • Outputs clean and punchy sound; relatively large, bright color screen; well-designed menus; solid aluminum chassis; exceptional battery life; ability to simultaneously view photos and listen to music.
  • Touch pad can be difficult to deal with; lacks FM tuner and on-the-go playlists.
  • If youre looking for a tiny, well-built, color-screen MP3 player with excellent sound, the Samsung YP-Z5 is a great choice. Just make sure that youre comfortable with the touch-pad controller before you buy.

  • Small, thin and lightweight, User Interface, Drop and Drag music transfer, Battery life
  • Touchpad has some issues, Screen could be clearer, Lacks some other features (Radio, Recording etc.)
  • This is the closest you’ll get to an iPod killer. Its features are well implemented and designed and the end result is a fantastic MP3 player that perhaps just falls short due to the moody controls. A definite winner in our books...

  • Compact, Clean looks & sound, Bright screen, Excellent battery life
  • Terrible controls, Tons of missing features at price point, No removable battery pack...
  • Besides the missing features that should be in a $250 player, the pain-in-the-arse controls of the YP-Z5 are enough of a reason to not buy this. ...

  • Best music transfer system of any MP3 player, Crisp, clean sound, Bright screen
  • Fiddly touchpad control, Non-standard USB connector
  • Samsung has broken with convention by allowing the YP-Z5 to mount on any computer as a USB drive. Its a revelation. You dont need to install drivers, worry about DRM, stick to a single machine, or use a convoluted proprietary interface to transfer m...

  • Very good battery life. Large screen. Good photo-viewing features. PlaysForSure-compatible.
  • A bit thick. No on-the-fly playlists. No lossless support. No recording or FM tuner. Not UMS-compliant. Controls could be slightly more precise.
  • The Z5 offers long battery life and good photo-viewing capabilities. It may be the first PlaysForSure-compatible 4GB flash player, but its still no iPod nano-killer....
